How to Scale a Recipe to Any Serving Size
To resize a recipe, divide the new number of servings by the original, then multiply every ingredient by that number.
🍽️ Recipe Scaler
Step by step
- Find the multiplier: new servings ÷ original servings.
- Multiply every ingredient amount by the multiplier.
- Round to practical measures (e.g. 1.33 cups ≈ 1⅓ cups).
- Adjust pan size to keep a similar depth, and check doneness rather than trusting the original time.
- Taste and fine-tune salt and spices last.
FAQ
How do I calculate a recipe multiplier?
Divide the servings you want by the servings the recipe makes. For 6 servings from a 4-serving recipe: 6 ÷ 4 = 1.5×.
Use the calculator above
Enter the original and desired servings to get an exact multiplier, then apply it to each ingredient.
